Mike McAvoy is President and CEO of Onion, Inc. and Executive Vice President of Sales for Fusion Media Group (FMG), a division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) As President and CEO of Onion, Inc., McAvoy is responsible for the strategy and day-to-day operations of The Onion; its sister publication, The A.V. Club; and internet parody site, ClickHole. In 2012, McAvoy spearheaded the creation of The Onion’s in-house creative services department, Onion Labs. Bringing together the best comedy writers and marketing talent to create advertising content worthy of the Onion name, Onion Labs has already produced native advertising programs and executed various creative projects for brands including HP, 7-Eleven, Adobe, Clorox, Home Depot, Microsoft, Lenovo, and YouTube.

In 2015, McAvoy initiated the launch of Onion Studios, a dynamic digital video network featuring the best programming from Onion, Inc.’s iconic properties, as well as original series produced by the company’s world-renowned creative staff.

McAvoy’s leadership was instrumental in the negotiations that ultimately garnered Univision Communications Inc.’s (UCI) investment in Onion, Inc. in 2016. In December 2016, McAvoy became Executive Vice President of Sales for Fusion Media Group (FMG), a division of UCI, which includes cable networks FUSION TV and El Rey Network, as well as a collection of leading digital properties: Gizmodo, Deadspin, Lifehacker, Jezebel, Kotaku, Jalopnik, Fusion, The Root, The Onion, The A.V. Club, and ClickHole. McAvoy joined Onion, Inc. in 2005 as Controller, later becoming Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. He was promoted to CEO in July 2015. Before joining Onion, Inc., McAvoy worked in banking and online education.

Love Does has worked with Uganda’s judiciary in bringing over 200 cases to trial, as well as pursuing justice, intervention and education for at risk women and children in Uganda, India, Nepal, Iraq and Somalia. Restore Leadership Academy in Northern Uganda educates over 300 students with a focus on character and leadership development. Because of Bob’s vision and the work of Love Does, he serves as the Hon. Consul for the Republic of Uganda to the United States.

Bob continues to be inspired by friendships he’s developed with others around the world who live their lives pursuing strategic ways to help others. Arun Chaudhary is a filmmaker working in politics. He was the first Official White House Videographer, a position created for him at the beginning of the Obama administration. Chaudhary traveled extensively with the President, capturing public events and behind-the-scenes moments as well as producing and packaging presidential tapings for the Internet and broadcast television. He is the creator and architect of “West Wing Week”, the first-ever online video diary of the White House. During his tenure, he wrote, produced, shot and edited over 63 episodes of West Wing Week, documenting the President through his rigorous weekly agenda. He also directed many tapings of the Weekly Address.

Chaudhary was a key member of Barack Obama’s New Media team during the 2008 campaign. As the New Media Road Director, Chaudhary oversaw the team responsible for capturing the day-to-day life of the future president in video and stills. He and his team set a new standard in documenting history, delivering crucial images to the public from the road in real time. Before joining the Obama team, Chaudhary worked in film in New York and was part of the NYU Graduate Film Department faculty. He got his MFA in Filmmaking from NYU and his BA in Film Theory from Cornell University.
He has been profiled by the New York Times, the BBC, National Journal, Politico, Fortune, and many political websites, and led a Frog design mind seminar at NYU with Fast Company’s Ellen McGirt. He lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife, son and daughter.
